Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

lingua.direct is a service of Invenix (“we”, “us”), Gansbaan 71, 6231 LN Meerssen, the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce 51997991). This policy explains what data we collect when you use lingua.direct through your browser or the lingua.direct Android app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We are the data controller; you can reach us at f.koppelaar@invenix.nl.

What we collect

  • Audio you translate. When you use a voice, call, computer-audio or live-captions feature, the spoken audio is sent to our servers to be transcribed and translated. In the Android app’s live-captions mode, this is the audio that other apps play on your device, captured through Android’s screen-capture system. We only use the audio; we never record or store the contents of your screen.
  • Transcripts and translations. The recognised text and its translation are processed to deliver the result and may be stored with your conversation history so you can review past sessions.
  • Account data. If you create an account, we store your email address and, for social sign-in, the basic profile (name, identifier) returned by Google or Microsoft. We never receive your password for those providers.
  • Usage and billing data. We record how many seconds you translate to meter your balance, plus basic device and connection information needed to run the service and prevent abuse.

How we use it

  • To transcribe, translate and (optionally) speak your content.
  • To operate your account, balance and purchase history.
  • To improve our translation quality.
  • To keep the service secure, reliable and free of abuse.

We do not sell your data and we do not use your audio, transcripts or translations to show you ads.

Processing and sharing

To perform speech recognition, translation and speech synthesis, we rely on third-party cloud providers that act as processors on our instructions, and payment processing is handled by our payment providers. We share data with these parties only as needed to provide the feature you requested, and we do not share your data with anyone for their own marketing.

Retention

Your audio, transcripts and translations are stored as part of your conversation history so you can review past sessions. Paid users can delete individual conversations, or set them to auto-delete, from the dashboard on lingua.direct. Deleting your account removes your account data and associated history.

Your choices

  • Android permissions. Live captions need your permission to capture audio (via the screen-capture consent dialog) and to draw the caption bar over other apps. You grant these yourself and can revoke them at any time in Android settings or by stopping a session. A persistent notification shows whenever capture is active.
  • Access and deletion. You can review your conversation history and delete your account, and with it your data, from the dashboard. For other requests, contact us at the address above.

Children

lingua.direct is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
