Device audio mode listens to what is playing through your browser or device and translates it in real time. Instead of holding your phone up to a speaker, lingua.direct captures the audio directly from a browser tab or your whole screen and reads back the translation. It is the simplest way to make foreign-language video, audio and live conversations understandable on the device you are already using.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick the audio source

A specific browser tab (Zoom, YouTube, Spotify web) or your whole screen, including system audio.

  2. 2

    Share the audio

Tick "Share tab audio" or "Share system audio" in the browser prompt. The site sees only the sound, never your screen content.

  3. 3

    Listen to the translation

Frequently asked

Does it work on phones?

Currently desktop-only. Mobile browsers do not let websites capture audio from other apps. On phones, use the Voice modes pointed at the speaker, or the Audio file mode for recordings.

Which browsers work?

Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers support tab and system audio sharing best. Firefox works for tab audio. Safari has limited support.

Can I use it for live meetings?

Yes. Keep the meeting running in one tab and lingua.direct in another. The translated audio plays through your speakers, your microphone stays free to talk back if needed.

Will the other people on the call see lingua.direct?

No. It does not join the meeting as a participant. It only listens to the audio playing on your end.
